Meet the new Samsung smartphone! I have premium HDMI 2. Save the money. Seams there's not such other than playing with unplugging all your AV equipment from power. I've been using it for years yes, for years with no fix or help from Samsung side. Maybe you can consider to use it. Not sure if other devices with Mediatek chip also works but my DVD with that chipset does. All connected using HDMI.
So like you can see is rater complicated. And all starts to work just fine. The downside is that I need to do that almost every time I turn on the TV and want to have the sound through my AV receiver because I'm lazy enough to remove power from all these devices for couple of hours or so.
So when someone tells you that there is no issue with your Samsung TV all works like it supposed tothere is an issue with your other equipment or cable - don't belive it. That's a lie. There's for sure a bug in Samsung TV sets not sure if it's firmware or hardware and plugging in Mediatek based DVD can fix just like that.
Samsung engineers: I think you have something to investigate and have the example of setup to reproduce the bug and provide a fix. Not sure if other devices with different mediatek chip also works but my DVD does. Samsung engineers I think you have something to investigate and have the example of setup to reprodece the bug and provide a fix. Problem still has not been corrected! Still have to reset the power to correct the problem every few Weeks or less.
I had previously been running with an older receiver that was only connected via an optical cable. With my new set up however, everything works fine for a few days then randomly no more HDMI-CEC and no more sound via ARC until some sort of intervention power cycling etcas others have reported.
The delay is somewhere in the ballpark of seconds. I had been using ARC for the return audio initially but the frequency of failures drove me to reinstall the optical cable as it's one thing to lose CEC for a unified remote and another to lose sound from the TV completely.
It's only in the non-configured state where my Pioneer AVR is detected as 'AV Receiver' by default that this functionality correctly works. To date, I have found one work-around that recovers my TV without pulling cables or switching things off at the wall, that is Note: I usually return one level in the menu after turning the setting off, then re-enter 'External Device Manger' to turn it back on.
Given the above results in a full recovery from the CEC 'lockup', this workaround definitively rules out a hardware fault, or at least, a hardware fault that cannot be remedied from the television's firmware. Of course, it would be great if Samsung could improve the stability of HDMI-CEC on their TVs so that we wouldn't all have to spend hours crawling the internet for solutions to a firmware quality issue.
Honestly, it's pretty disappointing to have to be considering 'hacks' to keep things going. I have the same issue. But when i turn on my reciever first, it does not work at all.Menu Menu. Search Everywhere Threads This forum This thread.

Any Tips greats appreciated. LG TVs include a setting relating to standby syncronisation. Ensure that this is turned on. If this fails to rectify the issue then be aware that HDMI CEC is flaky at the best of times and doesn't alwats work as expected with many devoces. I'd maybe suggest not using it the synce the standby status of your TV and AVR if having issues with it and looking at using such as one of LOgitech's Harmony remotes instead. These are far more versatile and less problematic, but expensive.

Thanks guys, I will play around with the Hub 2night. This is the last piece of the puzzle in my entertainment setup So I spent a few hours yesterday playing with the harmony hub, was quite happy with how it is turning out, the hub was able to work with the AVR Scene's and the IR blaster is working quite well. Just need to find tune it tonight. I'd suggest that you'd simply be duplicating what you've already got in employing another third party remote control app. I'd also doubt that such an app will have the same level of customisation or ability to control as wide a range of devices as you'd get via the Harmony HUb control app?
You should only really need the Harmny. Hi Dante, no was not planning on using it, it fact it was Yamaha's support that mentioned it to me and it looked interesting.
I had submitted a support request on this case to Yamaha to see what they had to say, and they pretty much came to the same conclusion we did, that CEC is hit and miss as every vendor tends to mess with the standard and incorporate some of their own logic which results in cross platform issues. Yamaha has great support by the way, they follow up directly with a call, a rarity these days. You must log in or register to reply here. Similar threads. RX-V373 Enabling/Disabling HDMI Control (CEC)
CEC HDMI Control on Yamaha RX-V1085.
I believe I have it set-up correctly, but sound will not come through the receiver. TV remote will then control volume on receiver. But still no sound. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I've searched endlessly and haven't found an answer yet.
Thank you. PSM1 Distinguished Member. I tried both and got the same behavior, mentioned in my original post, from each one. Thanks though. Certainly not a silly question. Butters Well-known Member. I had a similar but not exactly the same issue with both the sound and vision elements at differing times on a RX-V that i have on loan from Richersounds whilst my Onkyo is off for repair. Had me stumped for ages and just by pure chance of button fumbling i found that pressing the HDMI1 button on the remote fixed all evils.
Worth a try if nothing else assuming the remotes are similar? Thanks for the tip. I tried it and any other button combination I could think ofbut still no joy. Does that help in any way? I have emailed Yamaha about the problem but not had response. Try the same it may give them a push. Might be just a Yamaha problem then I would guess. I had the same issue with a and a Samsung 64F I have my receiver tucked away from 18 month old sticky fingers so needed CEC to work flawlessly.
It didn't so the went. The AVENTAGE line of high-performance AV receivers is based on the audio design concept of providing a massive, full-bodied sound for movie sound effects and the accurate reproduction of music sources. By expertly harmonizing traditional and advanced technologies, every factor that affects sound quality - from materials and parts to construction, layout, vibration damping unique foot and "fine-tuning" the sound - is handled with no other thought than to achieve the best possible audio quality.
As a result, every AVENTAGE model has the ability to reproduce the most subtle details of high-definition sound so that listeners can enjoy a truly high-class sound studio experience at home. Every single part in an AV receiver affects the sound quality. This testing process allowed sound technicians to, in effect, "tune" the receiver's sound in order to achieve the highest performance possible.
The interior of the receiver is reinforced with cross members in an "H" shape to provide an extremely rigid and stable frame. This reduces chassis vibration to virtually zero even during high volume output seemingly minor vibrations can affect the soundmaintaining the highest audio quality. This is just one of the many design details that all combine to create a superior receiver.
The interior of the unit has been precisely planned, circuit-routed and built so that the left and right channels are physically and electrically isolated. This naturally maximizes channel separation, but also greatly improves signal-to-noise ratio and also helps to achieve a wide, open sound stage.
The Anti-Resonance Technology A. Wedge is a fifth foot in the center of the unit. It dampens vibrations from the power transformer, power transistors and heat sinks, as well as vibrations that might be caused by the sound from the speakers.
It also can perform 4K upscaling to boost a lower resolution image to super high-def resolution. This ensures compatibility with the latest super high resolution video formats. Supporting both SD and HD sources, this processor employs powerful noise reduction functions that even improve low-quality sources.
Additional resolution enhancement functions make SD content look like HD. This AV receiver provides a variety of network functions that enable you to access more sources and also enhance operation. A tablet version is also available.
This makes it easy to enjoy music from your mobile devices or computer on your home theater system. There's no need to turn on the AV receiver in order to switch sources. CEC also provides advanced functionality with other components. For example, you can use the receiver's remote unit to control player functions like skip and stop.
Yamaha's latest graphical user interface has a high resolution display with clear, easy-to-use menus and also includes a selectable status bar that shows input source, volume level, DSP mode and audio format. YPAO R. It employs Reflected Sound Control to correct early reflections for studio-quality sound.
The Subwoofer Trim control enhances the low frequencies by avoiding overlap with the front speaker output.
This will result in a cleaner, more focused sound stage while providing a seamless frequency response. When subwoofer frequency overlap occurs in conventional systems, the overall sound is "pushed" toward the subwoofer.
Subwoofer Trim takes care of this by separating the low subwoofer frequencies cleanly, thus stabilizing the front stage while providing a well-balanced enhanced bass sound.
When music is encoded into a digitally compressed format like MP3, the frequency response suffers. Yamaha's Compressed Music Enhancer employs sophisticated digital signal processing using exclusive algorithms to restore what was lost, so the music always sounds the way it should.
Dialogue Lift raises the sound of dialogue from the center speaker to a position in the center of the screen.Music streaming service JUKE offers access to one of the most comprehensive music libraries in the world. Enjoy your favorite songs in the best sound quality thanks to Dolby Pulse technology and play music wherever and whenever you want.
JUKE is available as a premium subscription service at Euro 9. This AV receiver provides a variety of network functions that enable you to access more sources and also enhance operation. A tablet version is also available. They allow you to easily create sound fields like actual movie theatres or concert halls in your room and enjoy natural stereoscopic sound fields.
There are two modes, Basic and Advanced, that you can choose according to the type of adjustments you want to do. This makes it easy to enjoy music from your mobile devices or computer on your home theatre system. With the Spotify app on your smartphone, you've got instant access to millions of songs.
And now you can stream those songs to your Yamaha system by using Spotify Connect. Just hit play to start streaming music. What's more, when you've been listening on your smartphone outside and come inside, the song immediately streams to your AVR—like magic, you enjoy uninterrupted music.
You can also personalise playlists and receive phone calls while listening to music. Visit spotify. Many live and classical albums have no gaps in the music. Gapless playback ensures that there are no pauses between audio files. This provides playback with no interruptions, the way it was meant to be heard.
CEC also provides advanced functionality with other components. YPAO analyses the room acoustics and adjusts various audio parameters for optimum sound in just a few minutes. Even when it is impossible to install surround speakers behind the listening position, Virtual CINEMA DSP reproduces virtual 5-channel surround sound filled with realism, with only two front speakers. You get more flexibility to arrange your speakers inside the room, along with easy enjoyment of high quality surround sound.
Virtual Presence Speaker delivers 3-dimensional sound without actual use of presence speakers. When a subwoofer is used, it improves the volume of the entire low range of the speaker system, not only the front speakers, but also enhancing the bass from the subwoofer.
You'll enjoy video and music with sound that has exceptional power and presence. The Subwoofer Trim control enhances the low frequencies by avoiding overlap with the front speaker output.

The devices can have some control over the TV, and the TV can have some control over the devices.
This means you could control your Blu-ray player through your TV remote, for example. For example, with a PlayStation 4you can press the button on the controller or the game console itself to bring the game console out of rest mode. Or, if you switch the TV to the PlayStation 4 input while the PlayStation is in rest mode, the PlayStation will understand you want to use it and automatically power on.
This was at least easy to find and well-explained, although it was disabled by default for some reason. Be sure to do this on any new TVs and devices you set up to save yourself some time and hassle, at least when switching between inputs.
